Ifesinachi Nwadike is a Street activist, Editor, rapper, essayist, poet and playwright, but regardless of these competing lovers, he admits poetry like the favorite wife, has enjoyed, most nights with him. Hence his first ever published work is an Anthology of poems; “How Morning Remembers the Night”.
Ifesinachi Nwadike is a master wordsmith, known for his coinages and witty comebacks. And most intriguingly the Poet shares the same birthday or so with Nigeria. Born on the 1st October, the poet shares an intense destiny with Nigeria. He is filled with a maddening rage to flog Nigeria onto a change that has been somewhat fleeting from her, from an early age, he fought the oppressors, his destiny always drawing him towards a battle with the corrupt ilk of the society, made several publication about the corrupt politicians which sometimes landed him on the receiving end of political brutalism. His poem is replete with onslaughts on the corrupt politicians –which wittingly he called polithievians
How Morning Remembers the Night captures the poet’s journey on the streets of memory. He voyages into houses filled with grief—like an expert navigator. This collection of poetry leaves the reader enthralled by how the poet paints images with words, spellbinding his readers
The poet also weaves emotive lines for lovers to savour as he takes the reader on a trip full of heartbreaks and near-misses in his recollections. In the last poem, he fittingly ends the book with “May rose flowers bloom on the road that crossed our paths”; a tribute to a love so close, so real, but now a memory. This is a fascinating collection broken into parts but all connected to a general theme —personal and collective grief.
